Eligibility for BoostCashTM
What are the eligibility requirements for BoostCash?
Here are the requirements you need to fulfill in order to be eligible for BoostCash:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You have an open Boost Money™ Spend account.
- Any accounts you’ve opened through Upgrade are in good standing.

You have done at least one of the following:
- Linked a checking account at another bank where you have received 5 eligible direct deposits totaling $1,000 or more from the same employer on a consistent schedule, of which at least 1 deposit falls within your latest pay cycle, or:
- Received 2 or more eligible direct deposits totaling at least $1,000 per month from the same employer into your Boost Money Spend account, of which at least 1 deposit falls within your latest pay cycle, or:
- Received 1 eligible direct deposit of at least $500 into your Boost Money Spend account in the last 14 days (if this is your only direct deposit in the last 60 days), or:
- Used the Upgrade website or app to instantly switch at least $200 of your Direct Deposit to your Boost Money Spend account within the last 30 days.
- You live in a state where BoostCash is available (see list of states below).
These eligibility requirements may be updated in the future — check this page regularly so you are aware of any changes. Please note that we may not be able to link some checking accounts due to internal policies and procedures.
What is an “eligible direct deposit” for BoostCash?
To qualify as an eligible direct deposit, a transaction needs to be at least $200 and can come from any of these sources:
- A deposit from an employer
- A deposit from a payroll provider
- A deposit from a gig economy payer
- A deposit from a known government benefits payer
- Other deposits made by Automated Clearing House (“ACH”)
The following deposits do not count as eligible deposits for BoostCash eligibility:
- Bank transfers
- Verification or trial deposits from financial institutions
- Peer-to-peer transfers from services like PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo
- Mobile check deposits
- Cash loads or deposits
Which states have BoostCash eligibility?
While BoostCash is available to eligible Boost Money customers in most states, certain states are excluded. We are working to expand our state coverage!
At the moment, you can access BoostCash if your permanent address lies in one of these states or territories:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
